Happy House

When I bought this little house - I could tell the people who lived were happy living there. I do believe you can feel these things. I had, as usual, no budget. so I left everything I possibly could and added some contemporary elements to make it feel both relaxed, lived in but funky… Granny’s place but with a twist!

Stratford is my home town. For years I looked for a little house as an affordable pied a terre. I bought Happy House in 24 hours because it ticked all the boxes. It was only on my first sleep-over that I realized why it was so inexpensive. The Neighbours!!!! (They have since ‘left’. ) My Challenge: make it ready for short term rentals to cover the mortgage in 4 weeks. Yes, I would love really ‘do up’ the place but allowing my self very little time and money turned out to be incredibly freeing. It’s fun to decorate like that. It reminded me of my theatre days. And because nothing is too precious, it is very relaxing.
